Tennessee is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States, known for its diverse geography and its iconic music culture. On the westernmost portion of the state lies a large city, one that sits on the mighty Mississippi River, Memphis.

Memphis, Tennessee, is the most populous city in the state and the 26th most populous city in the United States. The census of 2019 estimated that 655,770 people inhabit the city, most of them concentrated in the inner city and its immediate suburbs.

Memphis is one of the oldest cities in the United States. It was founded in 1819 and has gone through many changes over the years. It played a major role in the Civil Rights Movement, as it was the home of the legendary singer, Aretha Franklin, and of course it also has a strong music culture with its iconic blues and gospel genres.

The Memphis economy is largely driven by tourism, healthcare and logistics. The Memphis International Airport is the busiest cargo airport in the world and the presence of juggernauts like FedEx and the University of Tennessee have helped establish Memphis as a hub for business and education.
