The Nile river is a pivotal component of Egypt’s geography, history and culture. It’s the longest river in the world, stretching over 4,000 miles, and is an essential source of life in the arid desert regions. As such, its temperature is an integral determining factor in sustaining the natural and ecological balance of the region.

Unsurprisingly, being such an important source of life and nature in Egypt, the temperature of the Nile river is a matter of great importance. While those in Egypt are very familiar with the average temperature of the Nile, it remains a fascinating phenomena to the rest of the world. To that end, this article will explore the Nile river’s temperature, going over its average annual temperature, the changes in it over the years, as well as its seasonal temperature variations.

As with anything in nature, the temperature of the Nile river is subject to the changes created by the seasons. During the winter months in Egypt, the Nile river can reach as low as 12°C (54°F). In the summer months, however, the temperature of the Nile usually rises up to 25°C (77°F). This may seem like quite a difference, but is actually a quite moderate temperature during a season where temperatures in the desert can reach as high as 50°C (122°F).

The average annual temperature of the Nile river, when all seasons are taken into account, is estimated to be around 21-22°C (70-72°F). While this temperature varies slightly depending on the area of the river, it generally remains within this degree range.
