There are certainly crocodiles in the Amazon River, but they are not as prevalent as one might think. There are actually only two species of crocodile that call the Amazon home – the caiman and the black caiman. In comparison to other rivers, the Amazon has a relatively low number of crocodiles. However, that doesn’t mean that they are not a formidable predator. These crocodiles can grow up to 15 feet in length and weigh over 1,000 pounds!<\/p>\n
