The Amazon is the world’s largest river by volume, with an average flow of about 219,000 cubic meters per second. It is also the world’s widest river, with a width of up to 10 kilometers in places. But does Africa have an Amazon River of its own?

There are two main contenders for the title of Africa’s Amazon River. The first is the Congo River, which is the second longest river in Africa after the Nile and has an average flow of about 41,000 cubic meters per second. The Congo is also the world’s deepest river, with depths of up to 230 meters in places.

The other contender for the title of Africa’s Amazon River is the Niger River, which is the third longest river in Africa and has an average flow of about 21,000 cubic meters per second.

So, which river is the real Africa’s Amazon River? Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. Both the Congo and Niger Rivers are important rivers in Africa and play a vital role in the continent’s ecology and economy.
