Yellow River State Forest is located in northeast Iowa, in Allamakee and Clayton counties. The forest is approximately 11,000 acres and includes two units, the Yellow River Unit and the Backbone Unit. The Yellow River Unit is located along the Yellow River and includes the Yellow River State Forest Campground. The Backbone Unit is located along the backbone of the state, and includes the Backbone State Park and the Backbone Trail.<\/p>\n

Yellow River State Forest is located in northeastern Iowa, in Allamakee and Winneshiek counties. The forest is about 50 miles from the Mississippi River and 20 miles from the Minnesota border.<\/p>\n
