There is evidence that chickens were domesticated in the Yellow River Valley as early as 6000 BC. Pigs, sheep, and goats were also domesticated in the region.<\/p>\n

This is an important finding as it provides insight into the early history of domesticated animals in this region. Additionally, this data can help us understand the spread of domestication across Eurasia.<\/p>\n

There are nearly 20 species of rare and endangered plants and animals that inhabit the park, including flatwood salamanders, frogs, wet prairie sparrows, loggerhead shrikes, red-shouldered hawks, Cooper’s hawks, great blue herons, cottonmouths, Eastern diamond back rattlesnakes and gray foxes.<\/p>\n
