Located on the eastern seaboard between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mississippi River, Sam’s Club stores are business, warehouse and retail facilities that offer members low prices on many of their everyday items. With the recent closure of several stores, it is not certain how many Sam’s Club stores are currently in operation east of the Mississippi River. Here we will discuss the history of Sam’s Club and what is currently known about the store’s east of the river.

Sam’s Club was founded in 1983 following an idea from Walmart founder Sam Walton. Walton saw a need for a retail store where businesses could purchase their supplies in bulk, saving both time and money. The original Sam’s Club opened in Midwest City, Oklahoma, and since then the store has grown to over 600 locations around the country. Of these 600 locations, it is estimated that nearly half of them are located east of the Mississippi. However, this number can be slightly variable as stores have been and continue to be relocated.

In the past few months, several Sam’s Club stores have been closed, including several on the east side of the river. The company has cited financial reasons for these closures, leading to questions about the future of Sam’s Club stores in that region. It is difficult to give an exact number of locations as the situation is constantly changing, but most sources agree that there are still at least several hundred Sam’s Club stores located east of the Mississippi.

Additionally, there are other retail stores that are owned by Sam’s Club, such as the recently purchased warehouse clubs known as BJs Wholesale Club. These stores usually carry a much smaller selection of products than a typical Sam’s Club. However, they do offer very competitive prices on a number of items. Thus, while the exact number of Sam’s Club stores east of the Mississippi may be in flux, customers still have access to additional retail opportunities because of these other stores.
