Yellow River Game Ranch closed on August 26, 2018 due to financial difficulties. The owners have not announced any plans to reopen the Ranch.

The Ordways have worked tirelessly to renovate and rebrand the zoo, and we’re so excited to see it finally open to the public! The Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary is home to over 200 animals, including lions, tigers, bears, and more, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this amazing place.

The Yellow River Game Ranch was closed in order to renovate and reopen as the Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary.
Why did the Yellow River Game Ranch close
The Yellow River Game Ranch had been cited by the US Department of Agriculture multiple times for failing to properly care for its animals. The ranch was cited for failing to provide adequate veterinary care, food, and water for its animals. The ranch was also cited for failing to properly euthanize animals.
We are still taking reservations to assist in social distancing. Parking is always free. Children 2 and under are free. At this time, walk-ups are welcome.
How much is Yellow River?

There are nearly 20 species of rare and endangered plants and animals that inhabit the park, including flatwood salamanders, frogs, wet prairie sparrows, loggerhead shrikes, red-shouldered hawks, Cooper’s hawks, great blue herons, cottonmouths, Eastern diamond back rattlesnakes, and gray foxes.
What animals live in Stone Mountain?
Woodland animal species in the park include Woodpeckers, Coyote, Fox, Deer, Hawks, Raccoon, Turkey, Snakes, Salamanders and a myriad of other species. While artificial, the lakes at Stone Mountain play an important role in both habitat and recreation.
The Yellow River Game Ranch was a remarkable place that provided a home for injured or orphaned wildlife, as well as a place where families could come to interact with deer, rabbits, goats, and more. The Game Ranch was a first-of-its-kind establishment in Gwinnett County and was a beloved spot by many. Sadly, the Ranch closed its doors for good in 2006, but its legacy will always be remembered.

Lanzhou’s winter swimmers are a dedicated bunch! Despite the challenges, they plunge into the Yellow River almost every day. The Yellow River is known as the mother river of China, so these swimmers are really embracing their culture. Lanzhou Winter Swimming Association is doing a great job of promoting this unique activity.
